Can We Make America Snow Again?
Although Donald Trump has said that “global warming is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese,” there has to be some connection between the weather and Donald Trump’s increasingly orange complexion; perhaps he is having an allergic reaction to gases trapped in the atmosphere. In fact, the largeness of his carbon footprint is the exact inverse of the smallness of his hands. On a more serious note, global warming and the resulting lack of cold weather and snowfall this winter, has left Packer students longing for a well deserved snow day and begs the question: can we Make America Snow Again?
It snowed only once in December and another time in January. On windless, sunny days, the temperature has risen over 50 degrees Fahrenheit. As we make our way through February and set our sights on spring break, it is becoming clearer to us that mother nature isn’t happy about the outcome of the election either. In our collective despair, we need to join forces and start a movement to educate people about the importance of caring for the environment, especially under the rule of an ignorant climate change denier. While this is easier said than done, it is time that people realize the role humans play in climate change and lack of snowfall. Starting with the man in the White House.
