December Movie Preview

Christmas is approaching and everyone is excited for the holiday cheer and presents that many will be receiving, but there is also something else to be excited for too… movies! There are plenty of new movies encompassing each genre to be released this month that will draw huge crowds, and be a fun holiday experience for everyone.


Star Wars: The Last Jedi


Star Wars: The Last Jedi  is the newest installation into the beloved Star Wars series. It will be the eighth movie in the main series, and the ninth in the expanding Star Wars Universe. The movie is one of the most highly anticipated of the holiday season, drawing excitement from many Star Wars fanatics. The movie will focus on Rey being tutored by Luke Skywalker in the way of the Jedi. The movie releases on Friday December 13th nationwide, and will surely be one of the best this year.



When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to overpopulation, a couple makes the decision to join a community of shrunken people to escape the stress of their lives in an irreversible procedure. The movie will feature Matt Damon in an exciting adventure, that will cause life changing adventures. It will release on December 22nd and is sure to be a fun and exciting comedy/drama.

Daddy’s Home 2


One of the most anticipated Christmas themed movies of the season will be Daddy’s Home 2. The movie is a follow up to the hilarious first movie, Daddy’s Home. Father and stepfather Dusty and Brad join forces to make Christmastime perfect for the children. Their newfound partnership soon gets put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho dad and Brad’s gentle father arrive to turn the holiday upside down. The two fathers must join forces to make the holiday


An reboot to the original Jumanji that featured the well known comedian Robin Williams, this movie is about 4 high school students who end up being sucked into an old timey video game named… Jumanji. Not only do these kids get sucked into the video game, they also change their avatars to morph into completely new people. This movie offers a revamped more modern version in a movie that encompasses adventure, bizarreness, and anything in between.

Pitch Perfect 3

What is expected to be the last movie of the Pitch Perfect franchise this movie should have the comedy and excellence that the first two movies also had. In this movie all of the accapellan’s  have graduated college and are now trying to find something to do with their lives. When they finally catch a break to enter a contest they can finally reunite and the rest, well, you will just have to watch the movie to find out. This movie is slotted to come out December 22nd.

The Greatest Showman


This movie is about the creation of what once was the longest running circus ever Barnum and Bailey. Hugh Jackman is known for playing his x-men wolverine but in this movie he is going to be playing a kind hearted role of a circus master. This movie may not be an exhilarating thriller but for those who are looking for something close to the heart and full of spirit this is the movie for you.  


Yusuf Haque is currently a junior at The Packer Collegiate Institute and the layout editor for the Packer Prism this year. He has worked as a reporter and assistant layout editor, and has worked on a number of pieces for the Prism. These include topics such as sports, profiles, and entertainment.
