Good Music for an Even Better Cause: Global Citizen Livestream

On April 18th, many families cozied up for some good music for a good cause during One World Together at Home, a live concert stream supporting the World Health Organization (WHO). Lady Gaga launched this special concert with the help of Global Citizen, an online activism platform, and the program featured over 70 celebrity appearances ranging from Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, and Celine Dion. Nightly talk show hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel provided introductions for each appearing artist on the live stream as well.
The artists who performed on the televised broadcast included Lizzo, Stevie Wonder, Keith Urban, Elton John, Kacey Musgraves, Beyonce, the Rolling Stones, and many more, all of whom sang songs about resilience and hope. A highlight of the show was a fun visit from Sesame Street’s Abby Cadabby, making the program great for not only music fans but also young children.
The program additionally featured a salute to healthcare and essential workers around the world, and the profits of the concert went to the World Health Organization, which provides universal health care necessities like vaccines and trained doctors.
