Starting The Year Off With A Banger
With all the hype from the world’s most recent banger, “Bad and Boujee,” Migos had a lot to live up to. After leading the charts with the release of their second album, Culture, Migos definitely stepped up to the plate to bring us a collection of some of the best trap music since Kodak Black’s Lil Big Pac. The lit beats of “Get Right Witcha” could make anyone dab and milly rock for days. The magnificent blend of trap and R&B in songs like “Out Yo Way” shows Migos’ progression and maturity. The vocals on “Kelly Price” masterfully utilizes the golden autotuned voice of Travis Scott. Thank you Migos for this excellent masterpiece that is Culture.
I give Culture a 8.5/10
Alternatively, the R&B world was also blessed with a wonderful collection of music by the up and coming artist, Kehlani. SweetSexySavage is Kehlani’s first album and it clearly shows the heavy impact that the young artist will have on the industry in the future. With a cheeky nod to Akon’s “Don’t Matter” in “Undercover,” Kehlani proves that she can hang with the big names in the business. Keep your eyes open for much more to come from this budding artist.
I give SweetSexySavage a 8/10
Kicking this year off with a lot of heat, we can expect 2017 to be a big year for music.
